Dear colleague,

If you are not already a member, this is to invite you to join the International Society on GRG.

The Society is the descendant of the earlier Committee on General Relativity and Gravitation and was founded in 1971. It is an Affiliated Commission of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics, and therefore provides the way for gravity researchers to take part in international science policy-making, and to seek IUPAP's sponsorship for meetings in our field (including the Amaldi and Marcel Grossmann meetings as well as the GR series). Many distinguished members of our community have been or are members of its Committee, Editorial Board or Conference Scientific Committee.

Other major activities are the organisation of the triennial GRn, and the publication of the journal General Relativity and Gravitation. The Society runs a Web site and sponsors the email and Web distribution service for information in gravity research which I had earlier started as a personal venture. You can find these at http://www.isgrg.org and http://hyperspace.aei.mpg.de.

Members are offered discounts on the GRn conference registrations, on subscriptions to the journal, and from time to time on books. Any surplus on annual running costs of the Society is used to support attendance at the GRn meeting by young scientists and those without access to hard currency.

You can join the Society by post or by using the electronic version available at the website. The annual dues are currently 35 US dollars (USD) and life membership is 420 USD. Three years dues paid in advance costs 95 USD. There is a student rate of 10 USD per annum. Retired members' annual rates are half the normal rate. Dues and other payments can be paid in USD, Swiss francs (CHF) or Euros, and payments in CHF can be accepted by Visa or Mastercard: see http://www.isgrg.org/payment.php. I hope you will wish to join us, and look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,
